Thai massage for seniors

Thai massage for seniors

Taking care of the highest quality of services in our ThaiSun Thai massage salon network, we have prepared an offer aimed at older adults - massage for seniors.

Massage for seniors is available in salons in Warsaw and Wroclaw. In its traditional form, the treatment addresses the most common muscle and joint pains or rheumatic issues in older adults. It helps increase your range of motion by properly stretching your entire body. As a result, you'll feel your joints becoming more flexible, and you can enjoy the freedom of movement.

Another option for senior massage is a massage using essential oils, which has a slightly different, yet equally beneficial effect on your health. What sets senior oil massage apart from traditional massage is the fact that in traditional massage we don’t use any balms or oils; it’s a dry massage. Oils, on the other hand, make the massage more relaxing and help with skin swelling, improve its elasticity, and on top of that, they are great for stimulating lymph circulation.

Massage techniques for seniors

A classic-style massage for seniors, similar to traditional Thai massage, uses techniques based on pressing with hands or thumbs. Elbows or feet are also used. This kind of massage relieves the aches mentioned earlier and is great for relaxation. When using aromatic oils, the movements are a bit slower, and the pressure is more fluid, which stimulates the lymphatic system and boosts your immunity.

The common factor between both massages is that they are a bit less intense than the standard version. The massage is done with great care and special attention to blood vessels. The offer is mainly aimed at older people, but the fact that it’s done a bit more gently means that people recovering from injuries or those trying Thai massage for the first time can also enjoy it.

How does it look like?

Classic Thai massage for seniors

A classic massage for seniors is a dry full-body massage. This means we don’t use any oils or lotions. Before the treatment, you’ll get a cotton outfit that doesn’t restrict your movement. Almost the entire session takes place lying down, and our Thai masseuses also use a few seated techniques you might know from yoga. These are aimed at stretching your tendons and muscles and loosening up your joints.

Initially, the massage therapist will focus on your feet. Then, after massaging your calves and thighs, she will move on to your arms, back, and shoulders. According to Thai tradition, the order of the techniques and their nature is closely linked to the energy lines, or sen, in your body, which are responsible for its proper functioning. Once your back is properly relaxed, you’ll change positions to lie on your back, and the ritual is repeated. The final part is a head massage, but before that, the therapist washes her hands. This is a sign of respect for that particular part of the body, since in Buddhist philosophy the head is considered a sacred place.

During the treatment, you'll have the chance to experience firsthand what asanas are – yoga poses that massage therapists use in their massages to make them more effective. Their skills allow people who have never tried yoga to feel how great it is for your musculoskeletal system.

It's worth noting that massage therapists use a variety of acupressure techniques, which involve applying pressure to certain points. These techniques significantly improve the functioning of your circulatory system, so during or after the session, you might notice better blood flow. Common symptoms like tingling hands, fingers, or constantly cold feet tend to disappear.

Oil-aromatheraphy for Seniors

Aromatherapy oil massage for seniors is a slightly more relaxing type of treatment, also performed on the whole body. In this case, to take care of your comfort, we’ll give you disposable underwear before the massage. Just like with a classic massage, you’ll stay lying down the whole time. Here, however, instead of stretching techniques borrowed from yoga, you’ll experience the beneficial effects of the oils used by our professional Thai staff.

A mix of lavender, rosewood, sandalwood, and ylang-ylang will soothe your senses, and also put you in a state of deep relaxation, firm and tone your skin, and help fight cellulite. The massage is done slowly and gently, starting from your feet and gradually moving up your body. Its nature helps improve lymph circulation, which directly boosts your immunity. Before the massage therapist moves on to the next areas, the previous ones are wrapped in towels, allowing the oils to absorb better, keeping in mind that they continue to release their beneficial properties for several hours. Therefore, for better results, we don’t recommend showering immediately after the treatment.

It all ends with a relaxing face and head massage, letting you completely unwind.

Just like in the classic version of the treatment, a great addition to the oil massage for seniors is the four-hand massage, which will give you even more blissful relaxation. So if you are an older person and your body needs some extra healthy activity, both options are a great way to get it. Our staff will be happy to advise you on which massage option to choose. Just get in touch with any salon in the Warsaw Center, in Mokotów, or in Wrocław. Your invited!

How to prepare for treatment?

You don't need to do any special preparation before the treatment. On-site, we'll give you a special outfit for the massage, or in the case of an oil massage, disposable underwear.

An important factor, however, is the time you dedicate to relaxing with us. Our professional Thai staff recommends sessions lasting 90 minutes. This length of massage is optimal given the techniques used – the massage therapist then has time to focus and carefully work on each part of your body. If you want to maximize the effects of a single massage session, a 120-minute option is a good choice. For more active people or those with less time, an hour-long massage is the best fit, and we also offer that. Each of these options is available in a four-hand version, which is a great addition in the case of a 60-minute massage.
